Privacy at Edvation

A plain-language summary of how we handle your school’s and your children’s data. No legalese — just what we actually do.

Your data belongs to your school

Every record on Edvation — students, marks, attendance, conversations with the AI agents — is scoped to the school it belongs to. One school can never see another school's data, and the textbooks a school uploads stay that school's own: they are never shared with other schools, never resold, and never redistributed.

We never train AI models on student data

The AI agents answer questions using your school's own uploaded textbooks; student work, chat history and voice recordings are never used to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's. What a student writes or says stays a private record for that student, their teachers and their parents.

Data is hosted in India

Edvation runs on AWS in the Mumbai region (ap-south-1). School data — databases, uploaded textbooks, generated audio — is stored and processed in India.

Who can see what

Access is controlled by role: students see their own work, teachers see their classes, principals see their school, and parents see their own children. Every role is enforced server-side, and the platform keeps a full audit trail of AI interactions so schools can review what the AI was asked and what it answered.

The platform is designed around India's DPDP Act: parental consent gates protect features involving children, and nothing that needs a microphone runs without explicit consent. The English Speaking Coach asks for microphone permission before any recording, and a child's practice audio is processed for feedback — not collected for profiling. We do not do behavioural advertising or tracking of minors.

Children’s data, specifically

Most of our users are children, and the platform is built with that as the default assumption — not an afterthought. Features that involve a child’s voice or AI conversations sit behind consent gates their parents control. AI agents are designed to guide — with hints, page citations and teacher visibility — not to chat freely with children, and there is no behavioural tracking or advertising of any kind aimed at minors.

For parents: the short version

  • Your child's data is visible only to your child, their teachers, their school and you.
  • The AI teaches from the school's own textbooks and never trains on what your child writes or says.
  • Speech features ask for microphone consent first, and you control your child's AI features through parent-facing settings and consent forms.
  • Everything is hosted in India, and every AI interaction is logged so it can be reviewed.
